BLADES FOOTBALL TOTS CLASS IS TOPS 01/01/2011
They start em young these days and Sheffield United are leading the way to create the next generation of football tots. The Blades have launched a pre-school class for the under fives at their Shirecliffe Academy, following a successful pilot last year. Soccer per-school is a variety of football based fun for both parents and children to play together, helping the youngsters to develop coordination and balance. There are three sessions available, running 10:30am to 12noon, for a variety of age groups. Wobblers is open to 18 months - 2 half years, Toddlers for the 2 half - 3 half years and Walkers aimed at 3 half years - 5 years old. Uniteds professional coaches will be on hand to run the pre-school classes at the modern facility. Matt Morley from United’s Academy said: “The advantage to this type of play is to give children early steps into exercise and healthy living. It is an excellent chance for the kids to play football and learn about fitness. A successful series of taster classes went down well with parents who said they would be very interested in attending them in the future. The club has organised a lot of activities for many age groups and we thought it was about time something was available for the under fives.
