![]() Big Jack is back! 1966 World Cup winner Jack Charlton will be casting his former football rivalries aside to attend a special dinner.
Sheffield United is hosting a dinner in partnership with Meadowhall Sunday League, to celebrate 45 years of the Sheffield amateur football competition and 120 years of the Blades.
The occasion on 12 November in the Platinum Suite will include some famous faces.
Jack will be speaking about his World Cup days as an England player and Republic of Ireland manager in what is rumoured to be one of his last speaking appearances. He will also talk about Sheffield, highlighting memories from his time managing the Owls from 1977-1983, when he took the team to promotion from the Third Division.
Former Sports Minister and Sheffield Central MP Richard Caborn, who is leading the England World Cup 2018 bid against countries including Japan, Mexico and Portugal and Spain, will also speak at the event.
The rare opportunity will see after dinner speaker and broadcaster Malcolm Lord acting as master of ceremonies on the night and comedian Mike Kelly will be raising the laughs.
